What does this say about one’s state of mind? I think that I need to take a trip---in a few weeks I’ll see how far the American express miles will go and take some creative relief for a few days. The new cupcakes may have flamenco dancer candles or French paper holders around them after I come back. Suggestions for a groovy place to go???

Crazy Times In Omaha

The first hint that this was an unusual weekend was the number of muscular young men wearing only speedos running around our hotel. Turns out the Olympic swimming trials were being held only one block away at the Quest building. On the first day of the art show at 5pm emergency warning sirens sounded. We started to place the art inside our booth when things quickly became scary. Show officials urged everyone to get inside and find shelter but Dick stayed behind to help the photographer family next to us save some of their stuff. The clouds were huge and strange---then winds of 80mph blew in and everything started happening. Gust up to 120mph tore up trees, art booths, everything. Then there was hail and a flash flood. 19 artists lost everything (we lost 90 prints) and the devastation in Omaha was immense. Two people died when a tree fell on their car. Very scary stuff, the Nebraska people were amazing and reacted perfectly to the emergency. Quite a weekend.

The Hardrock Casino Night

The Hardrock Casino night was super fun. I met the Seminole Tribal Chiefs, who signed my painting, and played baccarat with Chief Max Osceola. There were many celebrities there for the ceremonial first blackjack hand and I got to meet some, including Jim Allen CEO of Hardrock and actor Frank Vincent of the Sopranos. Wow! did an awesome job---thanks guys! Tonight is an event at the Hardrock Hotel
and Casino in Hollywood, Florida. Yesterday at 4 am my husband Dick drove a huge
painting down to them to present to the owners, the chiefs of the Seminole
Indian tribes. Five hours before he left we had a near disaster at the
eleventh hour when the painting would not fit in the frame. Fortunately the one
corner that was tight only needed a little sanding to slide in. Then I
decided that I had to put more crystals on it and stayed up until 2am doing
it. I hope the chiefs like it. Time to go! Wish me
luck.
